11th Conference of the Bulgarian Studies Association June 9-10, 2022, Library of Congress, Washington DC

The eleventh conference of the Bulgarian Studies Association (BSA) was held on June 9 and 10, 2022 at the Library of Congress in Washington DC. Originally, June 2020 had been scheduled as the date, but the Covid pandemic caused two postponements of one year each. Finally, in June 2022, the conference was held in a “hybrid” format, i.e. with the option to participate in person or online, rather than in the format initially envisioned with all participants present in person. In total, including the 15 presenters, up to 66 people attended the conference. Special thanks are due to Angela Cannon, the LoC’s reference librarian for South Slavic-speaking countries, for hosting the event and handling the logistics, and to the LoC’s Events team for providing and operating the technical equipment.

The conference program was divided into four panels: history and politics, literature and libraries, language and culture, and nation and society. The aim of the conference was to provide a broad overview of projects currently underway in the field of Bulgaria related research.
