The Bulgarian Studies Association (BSA) is pleased to share the recording of the online lecture:

“Protests in Times of Post-Democracy: Is Democratic Backsliding Reversible? Questions and (Some) Answers from Bulgaria”

The lecture was organized by BSA in collaboration with the Center for East European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies (CEERES) at the University of Chicago.

In this timely and insightful presentation, Anna Krasteva and Emilia Zankina examine the recent protests and political developments in Bulgaria, placing them within a broader comparative and theoretical framework. The lecture addresses key questions related to democratic backsliding and post-democratic politics, offering valuable perspectives for scholars, students, and all those interested in contemporary Bulgarian and Southeast European affairs.
